reblog if you remember exactly where you were when this terrible event occured.
5th grade math class
I didn’t hear about it until the afternoon when I came home from 3rd grade. My parents sat me down and I asked if someone died, cause they were being serious. And I turned on the television and started bawling.
^ I was in my third grade Math Class. We got an announcement over the Intercom to turn our televisions on to Channel 9 news. I wasn’t even 10 yet, and I watched, for hours, as the towers burned. I later found out an extremely close friend had died in the towers.
After 2 hours of watching, we were sent home immediately, parents were being called during it all, to come get us. After school, we had a Candlelight Vigil at school in memory of all the fallen during this attack. I still cry every now and then when talking about this.
8 years later, I was in my Human Geography class, on September 11th, 2009. We started talking about it, and where we were, and if we knew anyone in it. I was the only one who couldn’t stay in the classroom the entire discussion, and had to leave because I was crying so hard.
I don’t know why anyone would make a gif out of this. But I remember exactly where I was and what happened. 2nd grade at lunch, and my teacher pulled me out and brought me to my dad. My dad didn’t say anything to me until I got home. He got on one knee and the first thing that popped into my head was that my mom died. Just the thought of that was horrible but then he went on to say that she was ok but two planes had crashed into a building. I was too young to understand what happened that day, but as I got older, the more it sunk in. May they all rest in peace<3
I was in third grade . Our teacher had us sit down on the rug , and explained to us that some planes hit some buildings . She made it sound like an accident . Every few minutes , the class phone would ring , she would get up , and send another kid to the office to go home . Each time the phone would ring , we would look at each other and wonder who was going home next . I was one of the few kids whose parents didn’t pick me up . Eventually we caught on that this wasn’t an accident . When I got home and saw this image above on the news , I thought it was a joke . I thought someone threw plastic planes at plastic buildings , like kids crash those little Tonka cars . It wasn’t real . I didn’t think something like this could happen 40 minutes away from me .
